Three players are all-in preflop by the time I arrive, and Russ Coffee - who started all the preflop action - still has a decision to make for his tournament life.
Coffee looks again at his cards and releases pocket Tens face up, saying there's no way his hand is good.
Austin Ho - the first all-in- shows pocket Jacks
Jerry Utke - who went over-the-top all-in - shows pocket Queens
(See, Coffee is always right)
The third player, the shortest stack - called off his chips with King_Nine, getting a huge price and... it is sooted.
Player C celebrates seeing a King in the window, and doesn't realize there's also a Jack on the K-5-J flop, so Ho flopped a set to take command.
No worries, he doesn't even have time to find out he's behind, because the turn is another King and hits a boat ... a bigger boat than Ho turns.
Utke, meanwhile, who was well ahead preflop, is now drawing dead and Ho has a single out.
Blank goes the river 3.
the main pot to Player C, the sidepot to Ho and no eliminations. Why are we identifying him as Player C? Because, by the time this was written up, he had been eliminated in 18th place and gone before we could get his name.
Coffee gets to celebrate his fold. Always celebrate Coffee, for Coffee is our friend.
