Can Anyone Catch Armando?

With two wins and five total cashes out of the first nine events, Armando Perez (above) has the lead in the 2016 Turlock Poker Room Series Champion race. Winner of the title earns one year's worth of Turlock Poker Room tournament entries, along with a jacket, a trohpy, a photo shoot and a banner hanging permanently in the poker room.

Despite all of the series success Perez has, there's still four other players who can overtake him with a big finish in the $75,000 Guaranteed Main Event and walk away with the Series Champion title.

First, we'll list the overall points for the 6 players still in contention for Series Champion, then we'll show what it would take to win the title.

Armando Perez 299.2
Tim Weimer 204.7
Ken Kajioka 188.5
Brent Bixby 170.4
Michael Jobe 166.8

Kajioka, Bixby and Jobe all have to win the Main Event AND Perez cannot cash, for one of those three to become Series Champion.

Weimer can become Series Champion with a first or second in the Main Event as long as Perez busts out before cashing.

A mincash for Perez, however, eliminates Kajioka, Bixby and Jobe from contention.

Should Perez make the money, Weimer has to win the Main Event to win the title.

With both Weimer and Perez in the money, Perez closes out Weimer by finishing 6th or better.
