There's That Food Coma Thingy

45 minutes after dinner break and 23 percent of the returning field is gone from Day 1A of the $550 Championship Series Main Event. The Live Updates Team folks - well, mostly me - attribures this to teh poker phenomenon known as the Dinner Break Food Coma.

Players have been wired in for 6 hours of play, making the right bet-sizing, teh right moves, stacking chips and their opponents. Then a 40-minute break comes where the food settles in, the mind shuts down a bit, and suddenly that time is over.

Some come back a little too settled, a little too oh-that-dinner-was-good settled, make a bad move or an overbet or a bad call and their chips disappear.

Tonight, that took 10 players out in 45 minutes here in Turlock.

Among thise who survived is Sean Drake, Ken Kajioka, Rafael Gonzalez, jasthi Kumar, Mike Jobe, Bradley Link, Armando Perez, Tim Weimer, Kelly Canelo, Mark Johnson, Connor Henderson, Chrissy Merafuentes, Damion Underwood, Ric Peterson and Oscar Gaeta.
