Day 1C Recap


The field and the player stacks moved at a similar slow-and-steady pace today in the final starting flight of the 2016 Championship Series $550 Main Event. The $75,000 guarantee was covered before cards even went in the air, topping out at just shy of $110,000.

Chipleaders came and went throughout the day, but there were far fewer big swings as there had been in Days 1A (Thursday) and Day 1B (Friday).

JR Hernandez (above) picked up a massive pot midway through the flight and never looked back, bagging 282,000 by the end of the night.

Armando Perez looked for a long time as though he'd be sweating the Series Champion title from the rail tomorrow, sliding all the way down to just 1,200 chips at one point after registration closed. He build up and up and up - even knocking a lpayer out with 15 minutes to go in teh night - and finally closing at .

Among the crowd that came and went today was defending champ Tou Xiong, 2015 WPTDeepStacks Turlock champ Josh Moua, Brent Bixby, Darrel Dier, Todd Machado, Victor Paredes, Bojana Weimer and Ben Silva.
