Series Champion Title Could go Down to Wire

With his 9th place finish in today's Event 9 Turbo Mega Satellite, series points leader Todd Machado has an unbeatable lead .. or does he?

Warlito Merafuentes has already bagged 18,300 chips for Sunday's Day 2 .. and he is second overall with 160 points, so Merafuentes can win the Series Championship by winning outright the Main Event.

Chris Hinchcliffe -- in today's Day 1B field -- also has to win the Main Event to overtake Machado and win the Series Championship. Hinchcliffe, however just busted the Main Event so he does have until the start of Level 7 today to buy back in and make a run at the Main Event title and the Series Championship.

Manny Covarrubias -- the WPT Deepstacks Series Champion -- is 4th overall in the standings and he also can win the Series Championship by winning outright the Main Event. He has not -- yet -- registered for Day 1B.

Machado also has until the start of Level 7 today -- about 4:30 p.m. -- to come down and late register for the Main Event and battle to gain enough leaderboard points to hold off Merafuentes, Hinchcliffe and Covarrubias. A final table finish for Machado would lock up the Series Championship title no matter if one of the other three players wins the Main Event.

The prize package -- including one FREE entry into every Turlock Poker Room tournament for a full YEAR -- is valued at more than $14,000, so follow along with our Live Updates today and cyber-rail the points battle.
